a draft specification for your approval.
8. You will see that among Eastern Austra-
-lian hard wood, I have left out Turpentine altogether, From
what I can find out it is rather softer than the other varieties
of Eucalyptus and not suitable for any except straight lines
with light traffic. Taking into consideration the number of
curves and the fact that the sleepers are only 9" wide, I think
it would be well to leave out that class altogether.
spare,
9. As there is a good deal of time to
it might be well to put in a clause with reference to
seasoning. This seasoning could be done before being passed by
the Inspector as specified in Clause 7.
10. It is very difficult to specify the
kinds of woods which will be accepted as the trade names vary
so much and it would be impossible to check the names when
landed in Hongkong.
11.
Messre. Weddel Turner and Company
might be consulted with regard to the seasoning clause.
